Blogs

There are still problems appearing in blogs. I am having to chase up students who have still put links in, rather than embedded material. Some students have simply put in an embed code into their post without checking that it actually works.

All of these hold ups have made marking the blogs very slow indeed. I will start giving marks back this week and next, but it may well be another couple of weeks to get feedback to back to you.

You can help by checking your blogs and making sure they are labelled correctly, have everything in that needs to be there and generally taking the time to ensure that it is ready for assessment. You will get feedback returned more quickly, if you make the blogs easy to navigate and read.

Thank you.

Blogs

Some problems appearing in blogs

1) Links that don't connect to actual work – Please make sure that all links connect to where you think they do!

2) Prezis, Youtube clips etc, that are linked to, rather than embedded – Please make sure that anything that can be embedded IS embedded. Don't make the examiner hunt around for material. Don't just put a link to online work.

3) General lack of attention to detail and checking – Please check all work and make sure that everything is now where it should be. Evaluation booklet and the Research and Planning booklet all contain checklists of the contents you should have in the blogs.

To solve these problems … Please go to your blog (but don't log in!) and click on links check embeds etc. Make a note of all of the problems and then sort all problems out this week.

Go through the checklists in the guidance you have been given and ensure that all work you have undertaken is published and included in the blog. ( I do not mean by this that you can now create extra work to put in your blog – the deadline has been and gone!)
Well Done everyone for working hard on the coursework. Its all over!

I intend to get the marking done as quickly as possible...

This weekend, I will look at the videos and try and work out an appropriate mark.
In this initial marking I will be giving a 'rough mark'. That means I will be putting videos into one of the following categories.

Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
Level 4
They will then be subdivided into -= or +

So, I will give a mark that looks like this ... L3+ (which means the upper part of level 3)

Or.... L2- (Which means the lower end of Level 2)

I can't at this point give a more accurate grade, but the following could be used a as a guide ....

Level 1 = U grade
Level 2 = E - D grades
Level 3 = C-B
Level 4 = A

After this, I will then turn my attention to the blogs. I should get these done over the next two weeks.

My colleagues and I are about to set the internal moderation days, which is when we will be able to give more accurate marks back to you.

In the meantime, don't worry about coursework, start some revision on TV drama and enjoy the work we are going to start on the Music Industry.
